The hockey world championship held in Slovakia still causes mixed emotions among fans and members of the press from speaking at the Russian national team tournament. One of the strongest Red Car squads among all the championship participants and, possibly, the most powerful in the entire recent history of the country, failed to fulfil the main task - winning the title. One defeat in ten matches and a stubborn fight with the Czechs in the match for third place, where bronze was literally torn in a series of shootouts, left an unpleasant aftertaste. However, the current team can be reproached, perhaps, only in some shortcomings of the coaching staff and tactical errors that always occur in sports.
This, however, Ilya Vorobyev himself said at the end of the tournament. According to the mentor of the Russian team, an insulting defeat from Finland in the semifinals of the championship erased all the plans of the team for the tournament.
“We leave the tournament with a double feeling. I wanted, of course, more. Only one game separated us from this, out of ten games in the tournament we won nine, "

Perhaps to blame Russian hockey players for the indifference and lack of character. Although many fans in the first hours after the defeat of Russia in the semifinals developed exactly this understanding of the situation, they say, the stars from the NHL came to Slovakia just to finish the season, and not fight for the country's honour. However, the match between the Red Car and the Czech team showed the opposite. If, however, the situation had developed in exactly this way, then the attitude to the struggle for bronze would have been completely different. But, as a result, the national team is taking a medal to Moscow, although not a gold one. In last year’s draw, by the way, there was nothing at all.
Hockey players themselves understood this, who allowed themselves to spend a festive evening before flying away from Bratislava. First, the team showed off with awards in the locker room, and then went to the hotel, where she noted the bronze conquest at the banquet.

During the festivities, Evgeni Malkin and Alexander Ovechkin, who staged dances under "Hands Up" and Irina Allegrova, were especially noted.


Performed by Russian hockey players and the national anthem of the country, and at the end of the banquet, they expressed gratitude for the tournament. The same Malkin, for example, addressed his teammates, relatives, as well as fans who came to Slovakia.

As for Ovechkin, both Alexander and his wife Anastasia spoke out in a negative way towards the fans. Not everyone, but the address of those who attacked the national team with criticism after losing to the Finns. So, the wife of the hockey player reproached the fans for the lack of support for the national team in difficult times.
“The biggest difference between the fans of the Russian national team (not all) and the fans of the NHL clubs is that for the Russian fans if the team has lost, it is imperative to muddy everyone when the fans of the clubs support their team and their favourite players for any results. We must be proud of our compatriots, who are idols of millions of people around the world and serve as an example for the young generation! Good to all. Good luck to the guys tomorrow, ”Anastasia wrote on her Instagram.

Alexander Ovechkin completely reproached the discontented fans that they were looking for a moment to criticize hockey players.
"What to say to people who have never played hockey? These are not fans, just to insult them. They are waiting for a loss to say how bad Ovechkin and the rest are. Together we are fighting for the country, we want to win, but we should not pay attention to the people who write this way. Unfortunately, there are many of them, "

A similar answer did not find understanding among the vast majority of fans who hinted that Alexander and Anastasia Ovechkin, who scored only three points in 10 World Cup matches, were wrong to insult the fans and engage in their moralizing while living in the USA, and not in Russia. The same opinion is shared by two-time Olympic champion Alexander Kozhevnikov.
“The guys from the NHL have different psychology, you can’t do anything about it, they live there. And they are already speaking in advance so that the fans do not offend them. It turns out that our fans are bad. Is this normal at all? They do not blame themselves for playing shitty, but for the fans that they don’t know how to hurt! Also, the wives began to speak, this is generally a nightmare! Some kind of savagery is happening, or everything in America has changed in my head there. We went on the principle of the NHL, and their life is different living conditions. We all talk about what needs to be sorted out, we wanted to win now and shut our mouths to everyone, but it didn’t work again! ”Sport24 quotes Kozhevnikov.
In order to avoid conflict, the FHR decided to hold a meeting of hockey players with fans.
“Today the team is returning from Bratislava with bronze medals of the World Cup. We invite fans and representatives of the media to meet the winners of the World Cup: Sheremetyevo Airport (terminal D), 15:20 Moscow time, flight SU 7321, ”the press service of the federation said.

However, the arrival of the national team in Moscow was postponed several times. According to Sport24, at first the flight was delayed by almost two hours, and the plane was supposed to arrive at the airport at 17.05 Moscow time. Then, the arrival time was moved to 17.30.
As a result, the team arrived in Sheremetyevo only at the beginning of the seventh hour of the evening.
At the airport, in the company of journalists and cheerleaders of Russian hockey players, about a hundred fans were expecting. One of the first to go to the fans was Ovechkin, who was awarded a bouquet of flowers. However, Alexander instantly transferred the flowers to his wife.

It is noted that most hockey players tried to leave the airport building as soon as possible and go home. The team also ignored communication with reporters, with the exception of Mikhail Sergachev and Ivan Telegin a. The Russian defender, who scored a goal and six assists at the World Cup, summed up the results of the tournament, thanking the FHR and the organizers of the championship.
“This was my best tournament for the national team. Finns' gold was not shocking, we knew that if they play in the finals as in the match with us, then we must win. They play clearly on assignment, carry out all the coach’s settings, do not depart from their game, it may be uninteresting somewhere, but it gives a result.
